Considering how a building works within the setting it occupies is an important part of the design process. Smith Carter’s landscape architects expertly integrate the aesthetics of design and the function of the building with its surrounding environment.

Under the leadership of Bhavana Bonde, an award-winning landscape architect with international experience, our in-house team members collaborate with architects, engineers and other members of the project team at every point in the design process.

Team members support a variety of complex projects in the Science and Technology, Security and Defense, Health Care and Urban Impact sectors. Their expertise is required to take into account not only the existing site and desired landscape features, the specifics of the area and its climate, optimal building placement and future potential of the location, but the unique challenges that come with designing highly technical and complex projects within Smith Carter’s mandate.

The landscape architecture team contributes to a diverse array of projects each with its own distinctive characteristics, such as the rigorous considerations needed for a highly secure national defense campus, healing sanctuaries in leading health care facilities and green space and environmentally friendly design of office space in suburban and urban settings.
