SC3, the third Smith Carter purpose-built headquarters building is an expression of the way people can work together better and how a workspace can contribute to success. Smith Carter explored leading-edge concepts and materials in many areas to improve the environmental quality of the work place. It’s like a live-in laboratory facilitating the ability to ‘walk the talk’, research, test and innovate as a means of elevating solutions for our clients.

Workplace amenities and innovations include: 

• An open-area studio – dubbed The Beach – that provides an egalitarian workspace that is easily and quickly reconfigured without construction as needs change

• A staff amenities and special projects “skybox” on the second level of the building that has complete kitchen/lounge, exercise centre, showers, lockers

• Wireless telephones, network and internet telecommunications throughout to allow task and work migration throughout the building and outside decks

• Technologies that facilitate the sharing of information and data with clients and partners across the globe

In creating a stimulating, employee and client friendly healthy environment, the design embraces concepts of integrated design, environmental responsibility and sustainability ranging from the use of innovative planning principles to energy-efficient technologies and earth-friendly building materials.

SC3 achieved LEED® Platinum Standard - a first in the province of Manitoba.
