Bridgwater Forest
Bridgwater Forest is the latest neighbourhood development on 330acres of land in Waverley West, Winnipeg. This development has embraced “Live Happier, Live Healthier, Live Greener” principles by providing 70 acres of open space including preserved 25 acres of mature forest and 4 storm water management lakes with native planting. The walkway network through the forest and along the lakes offers a variety of landscape experiences. Special detail is developed for asphalt pathways through theforest to minimize the disturbance of existing root systems, natural drainage patterns, and soil composition. The walkway network along with the sidewalks encourages walking and biking as well as Healthy and Green living style. The passive and active nodes with different site elements like play structures, pavilions, fountain plaza and seating areas are strategically established to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.
Architectural guidelines are established for home builders to create a cohesive architectural language throughout the neighbourhood. To create a more pedestrian friendly street, garages are set back to give prominence to an entrance porch. The control over details and materials defines the character of the neighbourhood – a place created to foster a sense of community and toengage with the outdoor environment.
