When the late Ernest J. Smith and Dennis H. Carter established Smith Carter in 1947, it began with a passion and a vision for building an integrated architectural and engineering practice. Starting with a handful of professionals in Winnipeg, Canada, the pair were committed to constructing a solid foundation for their firm. As the years passed, Smith Carter became known for providing integrated architecture, engineering, planning, interior design and landscape solutions for its clients.

Through experience, continuity and longstanding commitment to people, design and technology, the story of Smith Carter keeps on building. And in 1985, when the late Jim Orzechowski became President and Chief Executive Officer, the firm further expanded its vision. Now under the leadership of Scott Stirton and stewardship of its shareholders, Smith Carter continues to reinforce and build on its long and distinguished heritage. By originating innovative, informed and inspiring solutions for highly complex, technical designs, we are able to deliver service to our clients worldwide.
