Local Architect Doug Corbett to join Smith Carter

Winnipeg, June 2, 2008 – Award-winning architect, Doug Corbett, M Arch, is joining Smith Carter Architects & Engineers.

Doug will play a leadership role in Smith Carter’s post secondary academic and healthcare market areas. His involvement with several “green” projects and integrated design process complements Smith Carter’s sustainable design philosophy and project base across Canada and internationally.

Throughout the industry, Doug is known as an architect with a broad range of post secondary academic and health care experience as well as a specialization in the design and planning of ecologically responsive buildings. His completed projects have been recognized nationally and internationally for innovation in sustainable design and the use of green building technologies.

Doug is a strong advocate of partnering concepts in the project delivery process. He has taught design studio at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Architecture and has lectured on ecological design theory and professional practice. Doug has recently provided design and green consulting on international integrated design teams for projects in US and Canada and is a team member of the International Initiative for Sustainable Built Environment (Team Canada) for the World Sustainable Building Conference 2008.

Doug was the founding partner of Corbett Cibinel Architects in Winnipeg, and had recently established a design consulting practice in Vancouver focused on sustainability and project delivery utilizing the integrated design process.
