To earn LEED® certification, the applicant project must satisfy all of the prerequisites and a minimum number of points to attain a LEED® rating level. To facilitate documentation and to keep the project team on track, a LEED Scorecard is developed. The scorecard is used as a guide to the LEED® Certification process for a Contractor, Owner or Architect. As the design team incorporates parts of the LEED® requirements into the construction documents, expected credits are tracked to determine where the project stands. The sections of the LEED® Scorecard are broken down into 6 categories:
     • Sustainable Sites
     • Water Efficiency
     • Energy and Atmosphere
     • Materials and Resources
     • Indoor Environmental Quality
     • Innovation and Design

For a new construction project, the point system is allocated as follows:
     • Certified: 26 points
     • Silver: 33 points
     • Gold: 39 points
     • Platinum: 52 points
     • Total available: 70 points
